Veteran South Africa actress took a harsh jab at Economic Freedom Fighters’ Advocate Dali Mpofu. Maliciously accusing him as one of the people who were eating money at the SABC during his tenure as CEO of the state broadcaster.
You might wonder why is MGOSI.co.za digging this story from a recent grave? It’s because when we published a story about the Power FM Dialogues that took place on October 15, we’ve tagged Dali Mpofu on Twitter but he did not entertain the malicious allegations against him. We also wrote Mme Lillian Dube’s quote in passing, now we are giving it full attention.
These Dialogues were merely about the exploitation of actors in South Africa. They were attended by the likes of Mara Louw, Nambitha Mpumlwana, Vatiswa Ndara to name a few.
“… Instead of saying work together they fired them and they rehired them as consultants… And ngiyamangala (I’m surprised) I’ve never seen anybody mention uDali ukuthi (that) uDali was the first one ukudla imali (to eat money at the SABC),” Lillian Dube claimed.
The host of the Power FM Dialogue, Aldrin Sampear confirmed with Lillian Dube if she was referring to Dali Mpofu, “Yena loyo (that one) nobody mentioned his name and the ANC government did not know SABC did away with dubbing killing the actors. There were actors who had a livelihood through dubbing. They lost their houses and their children were taken out of the best schools…” said Lillian Dube.
It’s really surprising that a legal head like Advocate Dali Mpofu ignored these malicious allegations against him. We would expect an advocate of his caliber to take such into task and demand that Mme Lillian Dube provides some evidence to such, well, he hasn’t done so, including the EFF after we also tagged them.
What’s common here? Is that the EFF Commander in Chief Julius Malema 6 years ago once faced charges of fraud, corruption, money laundering, and racketeering. Not so long ago Floyd Shivambu was accused in the VBS Bank so-called “heist”.
In 2005, Mpofu became Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC). Mpofu lasted four years in the job before being dismissed in 2009.
