So MGOSI got at the luxurious and calm Birchwood hotel around 12 ish and guess what? Zodwa Wabantu’s branded combi was already there. Simply explained, she was the lady of honor and she honored the time for an event that was scheduled to start at 6pm ish or so.
This was the first installment of Whitley Neill Celebrate Parties, which will continue to celebrate other South African talents that continue to do wonders other than the things we know them for.

Zodwa took us to some emotional rollercoaster when she told us how Soweto damaged her.
“Mina, I am a broken soul and I will die like that. I’m damaged by Soweto and I don’t want it. I’m sorry to say this… I drink there, but I’ll never return there bangimoshile Bantu bakowethu… I’ll never heal but I have forgiven everything. Bathi ukhula bakubize isifebe ungekalali nendoda. Look around you, if there’s a girl you don’t like ask yourself why,” said Zodwa Wabantu.

The event was attended by Zodwa Wabantu’s friends, including two that she grew up with while she was still staying in Soweto before she left home at the age of 16 to push her dance hustle.
Her friends described her as one of the most humble people that one can associate with. Zodwa Wabantu is everyone’s friend. Zodwa has a giving heart. She does not want to see anyone suffering. Those were some of the descriptions that left MGOSI in a “wow” moment.

Zodwa Wabantu told us that she doesn’t wish to go back to Soweto although she does visit because the place damaged her and made her the person she is today. If it wasn’t for her spirit to hustle her way out of being judged since she was a young girl, Zodwa wouldn’t be where she is today.
Dladla Mshunqisi was also there in support of her friend Zodwa Wabantu and he also spoke well of Zodwa and said that he has learned a lot from the star since they met in the industry.

Her “Ben10” Vusi Buthelezi was also there to support his gogo. Oh boy! Age is just a number, the couple looked very stunning together and there’s no one who can take that away unless he becomes big-headed and famous – Zodwa doesn’t date famous boyfriends. He’s shy a bit though with a touch of I get easily irritated.
