Bonang Matheba has announced that she will not be shooting season 4 of her reality show, Being Bonang. The announcement comes after the television and radio personality announced ‘big plans’ with the SABC1 in 2020. Eight-years later Queen B will now enjoy her drive to the SABC’s Headquarters, in Auckland Park, Joburg.
MGOSI.co.za can exclusively reveal today that Being Bonang is being shelved for her initial home, SABC!
MGOSI.co.za contacted Bonang Matheba on Thursday, as much as she was busy she alluded to the recent developments that she won’t be shooting season 4 of her reality show.
However, she referred further questioning to her Public Relations manager, Lindile Ndwanya of Communications Service Africa Global (CSA).
Whether the cancellation of Being Bonang had anything to do with the SABC1’s “big plans,” her PR manager noted our questions and says, “Will get back to you in due course”.
And our deep throats allege that it is part of the SABC1 deal that has led her to trash her own reality show.
“By now everyone is well aware that the SABC doesn’t really allow its personalities to work with the competition. And that also depends on what they put on the table to have you exclusively working for them and who you are also is counting,” alleges our source.
The source also claims that depending on what they offer you, they can have you exclusive but if they can’t really afford what you demand they can allow you to do other things as long as there’s no competition in such instances.
An insider at the states broadcaster told MGOSI.co.za that she got a “very sweet” deal and she had to shelve Being Bonang to ready herself for the broadcaster.
SABC’s Spokesperson, Vuyo Mthembu when called she said she was in a meeting and we should send her a text.
However, she ignored our initial text, including a follow-up text and by the time of going to press she hasn’t responded to our means of getting a comment from the broadcaster.
Bonang Matheba also said the same thing after the second season of Being Bonang but due to great demand, her reality of living continued.
Being Bonang on 1Magic enjoys a hugely loyal and engaging audience with viewers who eagerly accept her international jet setting adventures and mingling with the local who’s who of the industry.
