Makhadzi has revealed that she was raped by her manager’s husband and that the sexual abuse was every weekend routine!n a candid interview with MacG, Matorokisi hitmaker
And that this ordeal led her into working with a female manager.
“People know who I’m talking about. So what I am trying to say is that the time I was with them they abused me… just because I love music I kept it a secret,” says Makhadzi.
When MacG asked if “they” raped her she admitted she was raped.
“The person who was managing me is a woman but she was staying with this man (husband)… he was supporting her and we used to go with him to shows,” explains Makhadzi.
The man being referred to according to Makhadzi broke her virginity.
She said that she kept the rape incident from the perpetrator’s wife because she was scared that she’ll be chased away from their house.
“They didn’t want me to have a phone and the man was the one pushing for me not to have a phone. They ended up buying me a phone and he texted me the second time of the incident saying I must not lock my door,” says Makhadzi.
She also alleges that her sexual abuser would send her text messages in the presence of his wife.
“…it (rape) was every weekend routine,” she says.
She says that her career kicked off at the age of 12 when she ran away from home to dance at promotions shows – her first valuable gig was when she won a cellphone at a Vodacom promotion for dancing, of which she followed that promotion to Polokwane in a bid to win another phone.
It was clear from then when she started singing wedding songs and eventually dabbled in other genres – until she landed on what is called Limpopo house and hit the big time with her hit song Matorokisi.
