Today, MGOSI.co.za puts Matorokisi hitmaker, Ndivhudzannyi Decorate Ralivhona, popularly known as Makhadzi, now aka Makhadzi The Goddess under the spotlight, writes Buchule Raba.
A platform of style and appreciation like MGOSI.co.za, I feel like it should be balanced in acknowledging real talent, mistakes and encourage all artists to work hard. This comes from the notable performances that we got to experience/see at this year’s Dstv Viewers’ Choice Awards, which took place at the TicketPro Dome, March 14, 2020.
Before you read any further I would like you to pick up some energy with Makhadzi’s Muya Wanga.

This is #MakhadziTheGoddess from performing the same unique story from the streets, gracing such big stages, working with the likes of Master KG, DJ Call Me. DJ Tira knew she was about to blow up when they did the song Riya Venda.

Let’s agree, Makhadzi burnt down the entire TicketPro Dome that evening. It felt like I was there.
Born in 1996, Decorate has proved to South Africa that her beautiful music needs energy and you’re allowed to spice up your own dance moves – that’s freedom.
But, let’s first watch these performances:
After watching the entire reaction from the crowd, I could tell some wanted to put the face to the music first – Wow! Did she not deliver? She did one amazing job! Did you see how she powerfully held the microphone? That’s Makhadzi The Goddess to you. – Check on Twitter the hashtag #MakhadziTheGoddess.

Makhadzi is a Goddess, she oozes confidence, power, beauty and she’s fearless when it comes to delivery. She’s raw!
“I did not even prepare at all for that performance you know. I realized that I have raw talent and people want that.
“I keep it at that (rawness) so my supporters can fully relate,” says Makhadzi, before our call was interrupted on Saturday late noon.

By now we all remember that night… such an emotionally packed event it was, yet I am putting it in history of one of the last biggest events that South Africa witnessed before SHE went on lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, otherwise commonly known as Coronavirus!
Shifting the spotlight to Aka, Kiernan secured my music heart when he performed Victory Lap – he went in so magically.
It was actually the first time Aka hooked me up (never really cared) and I felt like my body turned inside out. Mr. Frobes, thank you for being the star that deserves to be. Most of us have issues with your personality… allow me to explain.

With the above well placed before you, I so wish that we can all look at your talent – that’s when you were put Phakathi Inside to us. You judged you so badly, I did too! I saw an arrogant individual, but place your money where your mouth is – we all forgot this how you came to us, this how you introduced yourself to us. One thing Aka has always maintained is not to empty himself to people that do not know his vision.
Actually, Aka gave you the middle finger after you laughed out so loud when fans didn’t catch him.

Look and go back and watch Aka’s performance and laugh at yourself when you were looking for him, thinking he fell again. Lol! He appeared within you and you didn’t see what he did? Now, go watch his performances, especially when he hit you hard with Fela in Versace.
Catch that moment here:
Aka’s full performance below:
This is not some kind of validation… it’s how you’re all so uniquely gifted – blessed to the highest level of making us angry, kodwa on the same day, you’ll find us giving it to ourselves listening to the very same Aka that we were bullying on social media. I’m actually saying “you’ll never make everyone happy”. Let that sink urgently!

The idea of “You can’t make everyone happy” is so REAL. Work as a collective, you need to unite and be one. That’s the future of this industry and it’s the LEGACY that you are sharing with the world.
Aka is a true definition of what we call “evolving” and moving with the times, from the Aka Orchestra On The Square to that stellar performance, Aka never disappoints. His stage presence is amazing! His performance was a remarkable experience.
Another performer that seems to be misunderstood is Moonchild-Sanelly. She did strokes (Dstv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards – 2019). I actually want to convey the deepest meaning of your arousing stage performances – you’ve told another woman, wow, woman to woman issues? That they must be liberated body-wise, never let your self-esteem fly out of the window. Because of us men, in fact, not us men. But the male version of the gender(s) that is not feeling well, why? It’s that stereotype of being brought as ALPHA MALES!

Back to this year’s awards, Jobe London x Mphow 69 – with Sukendleleni didn’t do anything above the song or it rather the way we treat and appreciate the song.
Semi Tee Labantwana Ama Uber, shame that song needed a powerful performance. I found myself enjoying the song instead of their performance. Miano and Kammu Dee looked like headless chickens at some point for me.
During that All-star Amapiano opener, I must say well done to Big Sky with their song Fire. Their performance was well coordinated – I cannot fault it.

Personally, I must fully acknowledge and urge you to give your utmost respect and the highest level of hierarchy to the South African entertainment industry, in particular music!
I was one of the people that were blown away by most of the performances as I have indicated above.
The history is that you were at an event that might have compromise everybody’s health. Reason being that gatherings of that nature were starting to be prohibited around that time. Well, serving you the truth, I must say that as a person who never went there due to the current situation – damn you! You all showed us flames at different picks and levels!
Today we really need to drag the fat-cats out of the bag and yes, let’s reaffirm Black Coffee’s biggest dream and fight towards the harshest stereotype that Africa is a jungle – Let’s allow it to sink deep within that AFRICA IS NOT A JUNGLE AND WILL NEVER AND IT HAS NEVER BEEN.
You’ll excuse me if you failed to catch your breath when you were reading, it’s my personal observation/opinion and that’s how I speak.

Makhadzi is a well known big shot artist back in Limpopo. There, support of each other is deeply rooted within the people – I’ve had a chance to meet (years-back) Queen Modjadji, or Rain Queen, which is the hereditary Queen of Balobedu. Personally, I would boldly say that Makhadzi bears the characteristics of the RESPECT I received during both times in Limpopo.
The respect for the cultures goes beyond what attracts my ear to her vocal abilities. I recall telling one of my friends this, ‘the way Makhadzi sings she’ll take you to Limpopo, well, if you’ve never been’ that’s how I felt when I was watching her performance.

I’ve fallen in love with every song that bears the name Makhadzi, from the hit Matorokisi, Riya Venda x DJ Tira, Mashaka x DJ Call Me, Tshikwama, Tshanda Vhuya, Mphemphe and Di Boya Limpopo, including the 2020 hit that recently spiced my vibe, Muya Wanga.
Now, let’s look at the economic or any value that was derived by my hashtag #MakhadziTheGoddess. This report is limited to 500 tweets.
The economic (financial) value of my hashtag was $2,094.48, which is 37 822, 79 in South African rands (ZAR).
