Lamontville Golden Arrows has announced that its former club captain and defender Nkanyiso Mngwengwe has passed away in the early hours of Monday morning!
And according to various reports, the star died upon admission at a hospital due to heart failure.

In a statement released by the Golden Arrows’ chairperson, Mato Madlala said that she was saddened by the passing of the 30-year-old footballer.
“Lamontville Golden Arrows Football Club would like to confirm the untimely passing away of our footballer Mr. Nkanyiso Mngwengwe. ‘Sgora’, as we in the Abafana Bes’thende family affectionately knew him, sadly passed in the early hours of the morning,” reads a statement issued by Golden Arrows.
According to Golden Arrows, Nkanyiso Mngwengwe made his debut for Arrows in 2013 and went on to play more than 140 matches for Arrows over three years. He was a dedicated member of Abafana Bes’thende who was always ready to go an extra mile for the good of the team. His sudden passing leaves a huge void in the team.

Golden Arrows said that Mato Madlala received the news of the passing of Nkanyiso Mngwengwe with great shock and sadness.
“I am saddened by the passing away of Nkanyiso. I remember when he first arrived at Arrows as a promising footballer, full of energy. He was always ready to fight for the team and acquitted himself very well over the years,” said Mato Madlala.
Mato Madlala also extended her sincere condolences to Nkanyiso Mngwengwe’s family, friends, and teammates.

“I would like to extend my sincere condolences to Nkanyiso’s family. my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult moment,” said Mato Madlala.
Golden Arrows further stated that the details of Nkanyiso Mngwengwe’s funeral are yet to be finalized, including mentioning that the club is in contact with Nkanyiso Mngwengwe’s family in this regard.
“Rest in Peace Sgora. Your hard work and contribution to Arrows and the football fraternity will never be forgotten,” concluded the club’s statement.
