, real name Sibonelo Nqubuka has come out in an open letter addressing J CatzicoDJ Maphorisa that he’s a snake, a liar, a crook, a jackal under a sheep’s skin and he’s “helluva” greedy “nigga”
The Durban-based Gqom and house music producer, in the letter, claims that DJ Maphorisa lured them with a nice deal no one could ever resist so he could destroy them and sabotaged all their songs so that so they can be his tokoloshe’s (small witcraft boys).
“Dude I don’t wanna lie at first I liked you, you were my role model but now since I know who you really are, I can’t say the same thing. First, you told Pato that you produced Available while it was us. Then artwork was changed to our names after we talked with him.
“Then you made me cancel the song Ndizamshini because you said we were going to drop Location, of which you also sabotaged by lying to us that you informed Pato and Dladla about the release, of which you didn’t. Their companies felt disrespected and we had to cancel the song’s release,” wrote DJ Catzico.
DJ Catzico wrote that they have made peace with Maphorisa’s shenanigans because they don’t want to look bad.
The DJ also penned down that they’ve passed his wayward ways.
“… We made Ay Wena which you also sabotaged again when the company wanted to help us by releasing it on all digital platforms and, shooting a music video for it. You refused to send them the wave of the song while it was sitting on 310k downloads in 3 days.
“Then came the Legbegbe remix era, you didn’t tell the company that I produced the song you just took all the credit and had me cast out of the video, I had to inform the company that I’m the main producer of the song then they fixed everything,” alleges DJ Catzico in the letter.
The DJ claims that Gqom Wave II came and it was supposed to be their project for the company. He continues to say that they even suggested that their faces must be on the cover.
“You told them to remove them (faces on the cover) and also picked songs that we didn’t agree on, old songs that we had already canceled and left our new ones. You sabotaged the whole project and that’s when we decided to leave your company. You refused for us to leave your company and we had to fight with you for six months every week because we did all your tv adverts, we have a lot of ideas that you still wanted to use, that’s why you sabotaged all our songs because you took ideas from them and you’re still stealing from us even when we are no longer under you,” claims DJ Catzico.
The DJ claims that most of DJ Maphorisa’s songs have their lines/ideas on them, including the old ones and that if he wants they will give it to the public.
“You never really wanted to help us, we were signed under you for two years but we never dropped any official single or video, we organized all the radio/tv & newspaper interviews on our own. So what kind of help is it that you were giving us? I’ve never even seen you making a beat all you do is chop other people’s work. You just wanted the juice and wanted to be on all our songs, we refused then you started sabotaging our work because you saw our potential/talent and tried to shut us down thinking we were gonna lose hope and quit,” shared Catzico.
He wrote that now that they have advertised their new single, Maphorisa is getting jealous, including going around on Twitter telling people that Gqom is dead… they told him on WhatsApp to stop biting their work.
“You didn’t discover me when you asked me to join your team, I already had my music playlisted on the radio. We are no longer under you but understand that we are still pushing… We are not afraid of you because wasithola sivele siphusha (you got us hustling). Stop dissing Durban and our sound because we made you who you are today and KZN contributed a lot on your success, you’re ungrateful👎🏽,” he wrote.
He also claimed that Gqom will never die and since Maphorisa wants war, it’s on.
“We have balls just like you do and you’re not God, so we won’t be intimidated by you just because you have a big following dude👎🏽it’s just your time, enjoy it while it lasts and please remove us from your company page Mr producer who makes whack beats then go take other kids’ work, and stop calling us…”
DJ Maphorisa hasn’t publicly entertained the “open letter” addressed to him.
We will keep you updated should there be any developments in relation to the matter.
