IN a podcast interview with Macgyver Mukwevho (former YFM DJ), DJ Shimza, real name Ashley Raphala says he has made a lot of efforts to reach out to Black Coffee and find out what the problem is, and when someone is just like “dude f**k off” it’s cool he has done his part!

If the relationship is not working it’s cool – DJ Shimza.
Speaking with DJ MacG he says he started to work with Soulistic Music in 2013 and he was doing a lot of stuff with Black Coffee and the Soulistic brand in terms of DJing.
Shimza also said it made sense for him to align with the label to help him with his album.
“They helped me musically and even with my brand they really pushed a lot. Obviously, the association with Black Coffee helped me even with the local scene,” he says.

When asked why did he leave the stable he says he just grew out of it.
“I felt like I don’t like having to ask someone else’s opinion with stuff that I want to do… I wanna move man and do s**t at my own pace… I don’t wanna have a boss,” he says.
He says he thought it’s cool that they’ve helped him and he’s grateful for that but it was time for him to move and set up his own office that he now employs three people.

He also admitted that at the end of the day Black Coffee is a big deal, including that he thinks Coffee was “cool” when he left the record label.
He rubbished the claims that Black Coffee wanted to suppress him as bulls**t.
The DJ also claims that he taught Coffee a few things and he (Black Coffee) had acknowledged that.
“What he is doing for the locals abroad is crazy,” he says in acknowledging Coffee making it easy for other locals to be recognized too.
In a U-turn that seemed like a slap on Coffee’s face, he said he’s not going to open for another DJ that is from my own country and he made that decision when he left Soulistic Music.

When asked if Coffee does reach out to him with compliments that he’s doing good he said, “He has never done that and I think it’s because of the relationship we have. It’s a bit shaky”.
He also openly said that Coffee doesn’t book him for his stuff and they (Soulistic Music) are trying to make it difficult for him to book him and he’s a bit expensive.
He says he tried to fix things by reaching out and if you (Black Coffee) feel like he doesn’t want to fix s**t it’s cool.
He excitedly says that he does look back at their videos when they used to play together back to back in 2012 and 2013 and they used to do crazy stuff together.

When it comes to his beef with Prince Kaybee, he says it was fucking stupid and he would work with him because he doesn’t think he is an opportunist.
