Pan African Queer feminist writer, actress, activist, and speaker Rosie Motene has shared some important tips that helped her family in the journey of recovery from the deadly COVID-19!

The award-winning author of Reclaiming The Soil said that the tips were recommended by medical doctors.
Rosie Motene wrote that if you happen to experience tight chest you’ll need to steam twice a day with Vick’s and eucalyptus oil.
“Cover with a heavy blanket – 15 mins. I sleep on my tummy on a pillow apparently it’s good for the lungs. Vick’s on the back and chest,” said Rosie Motene.

Along with (as per Rosie Motene’s tips):
- ACC which helps with cough another remedy is warm milk and garlic (chew the garlic).
- Gargle three times a day with salt-water.
- Boil garlic, gu=inger, lemon, and honey.
She said that if you experience headache Sinutab (recommended). Body aches and pains – Panado sachets and linctagon.

“Mobility is important last week wasn’t easy but this week I do about 20 minutes of moderate exercise. My partner does a little more as they don’t have a cough or chest tightness. Plus breathing exercises like blowing up a balloon or blowing into the water with a straw,” said Rosie Motene.
She also advised on getting vitamin D and that if you struggle to find any and fortunate to have a well-lit living room so you can sit in direct sunlight from around 10 to 11, with sunscreen.

“Zinc- we couldn’t find so we replaced it with food containing high concentrates 7. Only eat warm foods. 8. Vitamin c- 1000 mg effervescent plus 3 to 5 oranges a day,” shared Rosie Motene.
She also encouraged rest as an important factor.
“Rest rest and rest. Emotions- process whatever comes your way. We have gone from crying, being bitter and angry to petrified to trying to dance to old R&B. we have not had a fever, we have been checking our temps before we tested, and its always been around 34/35 degrees.

“We are feeling better. My cough has decreased and my breathing improved. Please feel free to add any other tips or ideas and suggestions. Please be safe and check in on each other!” she said.
On Sunday Rosie Motene and her family celebrated after making it halfway through their 14 days of quarantine.
“Cheers to life! Today we celebrate as we have made it halfway through our 14 days of quarantine! Last weekend my partner tested positive for Covid-19 and I immediately went the following day, two days later it was confirmed. Later, I will share the crazy and emotional rollercoaster that we have been on but today I give thanks to breath and life.

“We are doing well, feeling healthier and more confident but still taking the necessary meds, vitamin c and d and zinc, an hour of direct sunlight, rest, and faith! Thank you to the many family and friends for the love, prayers, deliveries, and support!” expressed Rosie Motene.
