SOUTH Africans, including celebrities, pay tribute to Uyinene Mrwetyana and some are calling for the identity of the man who murdered and raped her! It’s reported that a 42-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of the UCT student.
“We need his identity please,” says rapper Gigi Lamayne.
Economic Freedom Fighter’s Mbuyiseni Ndlozi says that his heart bleeds and is broken.
“I am gutted. Speechless! I don’t understand,” says Boity Thulo.
Moshe Ndiki says rest in peace baby girl and that he has no words to express how gutted he feels… Heartfelt condolences to the family and friends,” says Moshe.
Maps Maponyana says he is mortified, disgusted and speechless.
“A heartbreaking end to the search of #UyineneMrwetyana. Yes, justice must be served but what of the safety of women in this climate? We can’t keep posting RIP, women are in danger. Why is this not being heard by our leaders? May this be the straw that breaks the camel’s back,” says Dineo Langa.
The South African Government also extended its deepest condolences on the death of Uyinene.
“May her soul rest in peace. The government condemns any form of violence against women and children. #RIPUyinene,” says a tweet sent out by @GovernmentZA.
According to eNCA the man has been charged with murder and rape. Uyinene was last seen alive at a Post Office in Mowbray, where the suspect works.
He reportedly beat her up before assaulting her. Blood was found at the Post Office. The NPA has confirmed that the body found in Khayelitsha is that of Uyinene. Bail has been opposed and the case has been postponed till the 5th of November.
Uyinene, 19, a first-year film and media studies student, has been missing for nine days and was last seen at the Cleremont area in Cape Town.
