South African comedian and The Daily Show host Trevor Noah says he almost cried when he saw the other names in his category.

And he’s been nominated for Best Comedy Album alongside the best of the best in the international comedy space such as Jim Gaffigan for Quality Time, Ellen Degeneres for Relatable, Aziz Ansari for Right Now, Dave Chappelle for Sticks & Stones and he’s being nominated for his wonderful narration, Son Of Patricia.

“Today (Thursday) I woke up to the news that I’ve been nominated for a Grammy award. A Grammy Award! And just when I thought the feeling couldn’t get any better I saw the other names in my category and I almost cried – Dave Chappelle, my mentor, and friend. A legend who pushes me to be funnier every time I’m on stage” says Trevor Noah.
He says he also saw his watch buddy and talk show/stand up, role model, Ellen DeGeneres, including Jim Gaffigan whom he describes as a comedy genius who has made him cry laughing every time he watched him on stage and every time they’ve hung out off stage.

Trevor also gave it to his comedy “cellar comrade” Aziz Ansari, saying they would work their comedy ideas every night.
“What a life I’ve been blessed enough to live. Thank you, mom❤️,” says Trevor Noah.
A comedy album is a recording of a live stand-up set.

Trevor Noah’s stand-up special is titled Trevor Noah: Son of Patricia and is currently available on Netflix and this nomination is for an audio recording of that special. With his comedy album, he touches on tacos, runaway snakes, camping, racism immunity and lessons he learned from his mother.
