“Transphobia and homophobia is violence. the lives of trans people matter. when platforms like MACG’s podcast invalidate their existence with ‘jokes’ & derogatory terms many intolerant people feel comfortable to violate & endanger those lives too. it is dangerous & intolerable.
Langa Mavuso said that freedom of speech doesn’t make concessions for the endangerment of others. There are limitations and responsibilities that must be upheld for the safety of all.
In responding to Langa Mavuso, @Lilanga_ZA said: “We are blaming MacG for what society has tolerated. Homophobia is such a “normal” part of our society that I doubt the average SA’s even know what it is. Instead of educating and creating the dialog our society needs to understand homophobia, we want to end careers.”

“Apartheid was a “normal” part of society, in fact, it was a law (which informs what is deemed as right in society) but that doesn’t mean it was okay. Stop trying to validate BS because it’s a norm to you,” charged Langa Mavuso.
Langa Mavuso also said that uncensored does not permit one to be reckless. “Uncensored ≠ recklessness”.
It’s not the first time MacG gets in hot water over comments about gay people.

In 2010 he was suspended and later fired by youth station YFM after making derogatory statements against gay people. A complaint was registered with the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa (BCCSA).
MambaOnline reports that according to a transcript of the afternoon broadcast of the MacG Unleashed show, he began by stating: “Almost time to check out what’s happening in the world of news, but before we do that, now I thought that I hate gay people, But, hey, this guy is on another level hey…”
While mocking a gay colleague, producer Junior Dikwa, in-studio, Mukwevho proceeded to play audio clips of what has been described as the chairman of the National Task Force against Homosexuality in Uganda, Pastor Martin Ssempa, talking about the “evils” of homosexuality.
