KAYA FM’s Dr. Sindisiwe van Zyl speaks out about loving him (assumingly her boyfriend) more than she did herself. She says she would find used condoms and G-strings when she gets to his place in Mpumalanga.
She says she used to wash pairs of jeans by hand and she’s still “traumatised” by the things she did for love.
She took to Twitter to give context to her tweet dating back, April 2015, “Let me give context to this tweet I realise that I may have made some people feel bad for washing the clothes of their significant other(s) I would get to his place from Gauteng. He was in Mpumalanga. I never arrived unannounced. But I’d find used condoms and G-strings there”.
On Wednesday she says that she’d clean up, wash dishes, wash clothes, cook and give sex. Everything even though she was seething inside.
“I wouldn’t confront the issue. It continued. There was a problem. I was the problem. I didn’t love myself enough to choose better. I loved him but not myself,” she shares.
She says that this behaviour wears you down and it gnaws away at your soul. And because it is not confronted, the other person continues to do it.
“I wish I’d had Twitter back then I’ve learnt so much about self-care on Twitter,” she adds.
Sindi also took time to thank her fans for sharing their stories.
“We laugh! We cry! We call each other clowns but someone is learning from your sharing. Someone gets a chance to introspect. Someone gets an opportunity to choose better,” she adds.
