he late Brenda Fassie’s producer and legendary musician Chicco Twala says he spent more than R1 million to help rehabilitate his “drug-addicted” son, Longwe Twala.
Last week Chicco Twala handed over his acid head so to the Diepkloof cop shop after he allegedly stole a cellphone from his friend’s son, Brian Phofedi, in order to feed his junkie ways.
According to Sowetan Chicco admitted that Longwe has been battling drug addiction for over 15 years, which is almost half his age.
The paper further reports that an angry Chicco Twala said his son had stolen recording equipment in excess of R300 000 from him to feed his drug addiction.
“Longwe has been doing this for years, and it was time for him to face the consequences [of his actions]. This really made me mad because Longwe was on bail for another theft incident. When he was arrested, my sister bailed him out and I warned her about this. I said to her you should have left him there.
“On (in) this case, I told the family they must open a case because he won’t stop. He needs to learn that stealing is wrong. I have been warning him about it,” he was quoted as saying.
A video of Chicco Twala that has since gone viral Chicco Twala can be heard rebuking his son for stealing and bringing his name into disrepute.
“… I’ll never stand for this sh*t. Khanda lakho. bloody sh*t… I’m nearly destroyed, everyone when they see Chicco Twala, they see a criminal, they see a drug lord… I worked hard for my name, I can’t stand this bu*lsh*t. F*ck*n ba*t*rd,” Chicco Twala is heard saying.
A female voice is heard on the background saying Longwe will escape and Chicco Twala said they must put a bullet on him… If he runs away shoot him because he’s under arrest at the moment.
“I’m his father… The way my heart ingakhona (is) I don’t care… You’re better of dead than to destroy my name like this… Senzo Meyiwa, he’s stealing for people, drugs and all that. I can’t stand this sh*t…
“Bloody ba*t*rd… You were even wearing an EFF t-shirt when you were stealing. You want Julius Malema to actually harras me to say Chicco’s son what what and all this sh*t. EFF doesn’t stand for people who steal. You f*ck*n ba*t*rd! Marete ao” fumed Chicco Twala.
Speaking to Sowetan, Chicco Twala said when he heard from his sister that Longwe had stolen from his friend’s house, he made sure he was punished for his transgression.
He told the paper that when Longwe was located, he had already sold a mobile phone. He directed the police to where it was sold.
“There is nothing painful like not trusting your own child. Longwe has sticky fingers and has been stealing from me. I have raised my kids well to be independent and to know that whenever they mess up they put my name in jeopardy,” he added, as quoted by the paper.
