SABC1’s Uzalo has announced that its production officially resumed on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. However, the show will be off air from this Monday due to lockdown restrictions aimed at combating the global COVID-19 pandemic!

In an official statement by Stained Glass TV, the show producers said that production was profoundly impacted by the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions as it directly resulted in Uzalo not having enough material to flight.
“It is important to us to ensure that we deliver content that adheres to the covid 19 protocols, safeguarding our active cast, crew, and the great community,” reads Uzalo’s statement.

Uzalo said that the show will make a return to the small screen on Monday, June 15, 2020, with exciting storylines and captivating twists.
It is without any doubt that SABC1’s Uzalo is the most-watched local soapie in South Africa beating others in both pay and free access television. This has been a thread for 3 consecutive months for Uzalo’s viewership success!

Uzalo increased its viewership from 9,318,897 million in February to 10,295,063 in March 2020.
If you check television trends you’ll notice that Uzalo’s viewership is growing as they managed to hit 9,308,207 million in January 2020.

Uzalo is followed by Generations: The Legacy with a huge gap standing at least at 8,217,345 viewers for the March 2020 period.
SABC’s Skeem Saam is standing behind Generations: The Legacy with 7,257,988 million viewers for the reported period.

On Friday the show (via SM) also took the time to wish its Director of Photography Sanele Mgobhozi a happy birthday.
