Cape Town International Jazz Festival has muted Sjava, real name Jabulani Hadebe amid rape allegations!
The Sowetan reports that the musician was scheduled to perform at the festival on Saturday March 28 alongside big names such as Judith Sephuma, Aus Tebza, Abdukkah Ibrahim and PJ Morton.

“Over the last 20 years, the Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CTIJF) has provided a platform to empower and showcase female artists,” festival director Billy Domingo said.
“Due to the serious nature of the allegation leveled against Sjava, the festival management has decided to cancel the artist’s performance at the 2020 festival.

“As the investigation is still ongoing, the festival is not in a position to comment further at this stage. Any changes to the festival line-up will be communicated in time.”
The festival’s decision comes after Sunday reports that a rape case against the Umama hit-maker was opened last November by a famous ex-girlfriend.
This year’s festival takes place over two days, starting on Friday March 27.The Friday line-up features Lady Zamar, Lira, Samthing Soweto, Ndlovu Youth Choir, Earl Sweatshirt and more.

In October last year musician and songwriter Lady Zamar, real name Yamikani Banda revealed through a question and answer session that she and ex-boyfriend Sjava were not in good speaking terms since the break-up.
Lady Zamar also snubbed Shimza’s One Man show due to the fact that Sjava was in the line-up to perform at the same event.
“… For grossly obvious reasons I won’t be attending/performing at the Shimza One Man Show on the 25th of December 2019,” wrote Lady Zamar.

“I’ve stated all that I need to and legal proceedings are still underway and I cannot in anyway be in an environment where I don’t feel safe,” says Lady Zamar.
She has apologized to the “Zamartians” and anyone else who might have wanted to see her perform on the 25th of December.
Sjava has since said he was going to take legal action against Lady Zamar.
The alleged rape incident apparently took place in 2017.
Lady Zamar has also accused Sjava of physically and emotionally abusing her.
