I am caught between the horns of a dilemma when it comes to the saga between Sjava, real name Jabulani Hadebe and ex-girlfriend Lady Zamar, real name Yamikani Banda, writes Dumisani Dube.
I do not condone violence against anyone irrespective of their gender, including sexuality. But there are always 2 sides to any story. Lady Zamar is a victim here and I totally understand her pain. I will be in pain too. But, I have a few things wondering in my mind as I have been following this story since it emerged.
READ – Lady Zamar says they’re not in speaking terms with Sjava!
One should filter out the noise before even having an opinion about such a sensitive issue. One should comprehend that the issue of domestic violence is a very serious one. Also, one should poke a few questions about the timing and or maybe Lady Zamar’s readiness to talk?
She says she was in this relationship for 5 months. Everything she alleges took place according to her… She feared to speak out. Did she fear to go to the police also? Doesn’t she trust the police to protect her when it comes to such serious issues? Verbally abused, “once” sexually abused, being cheated on, having Sjava to say he was not married. Did she ever question why the affair was being kept so private?

The question that begets me is why was she silent for so long? Now that it has emerged that Sjava is married she comes out fully blown with malicious allegations.
South Africa has been very vocal against women abuse and she was one of the people that called men out when fellow artist Babes Wodumo was being abused, pardon me if I am wrong. I ask myself if this is merely bitterness or just her plain truth? Not close to either, so that may go unanswered. What a shame. On Sjava, why would he keep his marriage a secret from the rest of the world, more especially when one sees a relationship is really getting serious. Chances are if it didn’t emerge in the media that they were an item, Lady Zamar would have been your typical girl who just dated Sjava. Or she would be accused of seeking some clout or attention. What nonsense is that?

It was a very cheap and selfish way to get it down with Lady Zamar, totally nonsensical. I hate it when people do that.
If it boils down to the legal route and we find it to be true, he’s an egocentric son of… He took advantage of his status in society, and the vulnerable Lady Zamar fell for it. He needs to be called out as much as it happens to anyone, including his music being muted. Not because he cheated but essentially he allegedly abused and violated a defenseless woman.

Lady Zamar must open a case. If she won’t do it herself, she has to do it for other vulnerable young women who look up to her. It’s really tiring to see women die at the hands of arrogant men who think the world belongs to them and them alone!
Again, I wonder what else Lady Zamar has not yet revealed. If Sjava is the monster that she says he is, then let him go to where monsters belong. Behind bars. Sending hugs to all women.
