oll out the carpet and iron out your Sunday Best- Africa’s biggest gospel music affair is back as World Gospel Powerhouse hosts the 14th Annual Crown Gospel Music Awards!
In the wake of the 2021 nominations opening, the prestigious Crown Gospel Music Awards is gearing for the return of the celebration as the entries pour in. The nominations submissions deadline has been extended from the 15th September to the 30th September 2021 closing date.
After a challenging 2020, where we spent most of the year under lockdown, thanks to Covid-19 restrictions during the scourge of a global pandemic, the entertainment industry took a knock. However, through the messages of hope embedded in gospel music, many held on dearly to their faith and seek comfort in the music.
2021 comes with a fraction of hope and calm as the vaccination process rolls out around the world.
Contrary to the massive glamorous red carpet event ushered by glittering ball gowns, feathers, and tuxedos, the 14th Crown Gospel Music Awards will once again be confined to a studio pre-recording with a limited guest on-site to observe covid safety protocols and ensure the safety of the artists and Gospel fans.
“We are amped and excited to be celebrating gospel music this year. 2020 was our first virtual awards and embracing the new world order. This year we have adjusted to the era of virtual awards. We are looking forward to a spectacular event that recognizes the year’s best performances, honors gospel icons, showcases heavenly voices, and acknowledges instrumental individuals that fuel our faith and glorify God”, says Zanele Mbokazi, Founder of World Gospel Powerhouse and Executive Producer for the Crown Gospel Music Awards.
This year’s awards running theme is Hope #ChristOurHopeOfGlory, a fitting tribute given all that we have faced as a country.
Gospel Music fans will be treated to an entertaining awards show with winners selected in 29 categories with the return of a significant Salt Award, bestowed to the trailblazer who has done well exceedingly well by playing an influential role in society. This is an award that was last awarded to Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng in 2019.
Artists, record companies, producers, engineers, composers, and promoters can still submit nominations before the 30th of September 2021 by contacting email@example.com.
An entry fee of R1 500 for Best Gospel Artist and Best Gospel Song applies for each category. The winner in each of the two categories will walk away with R10 000. All other categories are subjected to an entry fee of R1 200 and the winner in each category will receive R5 000 accompanied by a trophy. Entry fees for none winners and disqualified entries are non-refundable.
