Following eleven years of marriage, Tol Ass Mo and Mome are divorcing, this was confirmed by Tol Ass Mo, whose real name is Mongezi Mhlangu in an interview with DJ Fresh, on his podcast WAW: What A Week, on Friday, 21 July.
The two have separated after reaching a point in their marriage when it has been determined that their relationship is irreconcilable.
Tol Ass Mo was cleared of rape charges last year after claims against him were allegedly made up by model and actress Lerato Moloi.
The TV personality and comedian, who insisted on his innocence, claimed the stress he had experienced as a result of the entire ordeal had a negative impact on his family, his career, as well as his mental and emotional health.
Tol Ass Mo said in a conversation with DJ Fresh that he will never date a black woman again since he has been traumatised by them.
Despite Mome’s staunch support throughout the rape claims and her conviction that he was not the gender-based abuser he was being portrayed as, his wife still stood steadfastly by his side.
“Currently, right now Mome and I are separated, we’re separated and are in the process of filing for a divorce. People grow, and we grew apart.
We went through so many different struggles in our relationship, I was there for her and she was there for me, and the most important thing is the respect between the two of us. I’m not going to pull a Somizi on you and have a whole special on my divorce, no, you can’t celebrate such things. It really hurts me so much because we have reached a point where things are just not working between the two of us.”
Tol Ass Mo claims that he and Mome tried everything to make their marriage work, but he ultimately decided to leave.
“It’s me that’s walking away Fresh, it’s me, because I am f**king traumatised. I’m traumatised by black women. Although Mome is not part of my trauma, but even when I was making love to my wife, I would get flashbacks of this woman’s face in my mind.”
The comedian claims he needs time to recover from the trauma he has experienced as a result of the rape allegations, and he claims that he can only do that if he has time to himself.
Since the video of Mo’s interview began to circulate, Mome has been at the top of Twitter’s trending topics.
