South African celebrities have taken it to social media (Twitter) to pay homage to the slain singer and Idols SA runner-up, Thami Shobede. Thami died at Kalafong Hospital in Pretoria on Thursday morning.
The singer’s death has sent shocking waves across South Africa.
SAMA nominee and Jazz award-winning musician Dumza Maswana says he will forever love Thami.
“I will forever love you, my friend. Thank you for everything. Man, you were so young, so talented and had big dreams. Kubuhlungu kakhulu (it’s very painful)! Phumla (rest),” says Dumza.
“Rest in eternal peace, Thami. An incredible soul gone far too soon. Thank you for sharing your powerful gift with us,” Boity Thulo.
Sabelo Mthembu, whose a Jazz musician replied to Dumza by saying, “Same here. I know how much you cared for him and how much he looked up to you as a big brother.”
Speaking to MGOSI.co.za Sabelo says that Thami really loved music and his fellow musicians.
“He immersed himself fully in the culture and always gave his best when he was on stage. Offstage he was very humble and always value true brotherhood and friendship. I don’t know him as a person who was obsessed with fame or flashy life. He genuinely just loved music, his friends and his family. He had so much to give still. I’m very sad that he left us so soon,” says Sabelo.
“Rest In Peace my friend, you left us with some great memories, your music will live on,” says Mobi Dixon.
“Yoh Thami bro, I’m so shocked and confused. I can’t believe that you’re gone just like that, I pray that your family may be comforted at this time. May your soul REST IN PEACE! Much love bro,” says fellow Idols SA’s Karabo Mogane.
