Thuso Mbedu is lining up her next feature film as she has come on to TriStar Pictures The Woman King starring Academy award-winning actress Viola Davis!outh Africa’s very own
“Those who know, know 😩🤞🏾 Let’s do it! What an honor!” said Thuso Mbedu.
According to Deadline, The pic will be directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, who most recently directed the critically acclaimed blockbuster, The Old Guard.
“The depth and complexity of emotional life, her authentic beauty, and regalness are potent. We were mesmerized by Thuso Mbedu. We wanted Woman King / Nawi to be the vehicle to introduce her on the big screen” said Viola Davis and Julius Tennon of JuVee Productions.
The Woman King is a historical epic inspired by true events that took place in The Kingdom of Dahomey, one of the most powerful states of Africa in the 18th and 19th centuries. The story follows Nanisca, General of the all-female military unit, and Nawi, an ambitious recruit, who together fought enemies who violated their honor, enslaved their people, and threatened to destroy everything they’ve lived for.“

Thuso Mbedu is a South African actress best known for her role as Kitso Medupe on the e.tv soapie Scandal!.
Thuso Mbedu received performance training at Wits University (2010-2013), graduating with Honours and majoring in Physical Theatre and Performing Arts Management. She also spent two months at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York City, in 2012.
Thuso Mbedu made her screen acting debut in the major recurring role of Boni Khumalo in the Mzansi Magic drama series Saints and Sinners, in August 2014. She reprised her role the following year in Season 2.
In late 2014 Thuso Mbedu had a small recurring role in the second season of the Mzansi Magic soapie isiBaya, before landing her higher-profile role as a journalism student and wild child Kitso on Scandal.
