has been accused of allegedly stealing Dinner At Somizi’s (Dinner Kwa Somizi), an idea proposed to him and his former lover Themba Zuma by omizi MhlongoHastings Moeng in 2014!
“On 28 July 2014, Hastings Moeng proposed #DinnerAtSomizis to Somizi & Themba. The description of the show is materially similar to the one now flighted (to the shock of Mr. Moeng). See the 2014 email below and decide for yourself,” reads a former 702 radio broadcaster, Eusebius McKaiser.
Eusebius McKaiser continued to say: “On 2 September 2016 Hastings Moeng wrote to Legend (the current producer) with a synopsis for #DinnerAtSomizis . You can see the treatment synopsis below. And judge for yourself. Why is IP theft so rife in entertainment? Multichoice is being coy despite being shown this.”
Dinner At Somizi’s produced by The BarLeader TV owned by Legend Manqele. The producers of Kwa MamMkhize, Being Bonang and Living The Dream with Somizi.
A screenshot of an email that is making rounds on social media reads as follows: “…I’ve had a TV show idea since 2010 but have not had the chance to try materializing it. Please receive this an expression of interest to partner up with you on the idea. I’ve not done a show before, though I am confident that between us we have a database of the right people to bring this to life…”
As proposed by Hastings Moeng:
Dinner Kwa Somizi
Dinner Kwa Somizi is a weekly lifestyle and entertainment talk show that sees South African all-rounder/Entertainer Somizi Mhlongo chats to fellow entertainers over dinner. Each 24-minute long episode captures the drama that goes into preparing each meal as Somizi and his guest sweat it up in the kitchen before the actual seat down.
Hastings Moeng’s proposal further reads: In a true Somizi style, the show is quirky and light-hearted. Somizi, famous for not mincing his words, asks each of his guests the questions on everyone’s mind that no one has ever dared to ask in a witty manner without offending them.
“This 13 episode will have a star-studded guest list of some of the most topical names in the entertainment telling their stories in an ever seen before light,” reads the email send by Hastings Moeng – dated July 28, 2014, 07:00:13 PM.
Hastings Moeng’s proposal further reads that the guests will be an electric mix of the idols and icons, the new kids as well as the no so new kids of the South African showbiz.
The possible guests proposed by Hastings Moeng were as follows:
- Denise Zimba
- Dineo Ranaka
- Itumeleng Khune
- Jamie Bartlett
- Lillian Dube
- Melinda Bam
- Minnie Dlamini
- Phat Joe to name just a few.
Somizi Mhlongo’s late mother Mary Twala was proposed for the last episode, an exit with a bang.
“This is shot in a studio (not Somizi’s house) and since there’s a cooking element we can even attempt to get a sponsor who’s product will be the omnipresent ingredient. If you keen let’s please engage further,” concludes Hastings Moeng.
This is a developing story…
