Skeem Saam’s actress and former Capricon FM presenter Pebetsi Matlaila is being dragged to the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation, and Arbitration (CCMA) by a former domestic worker, allegedly for unfair dismissal.
The actress who plays Mokgadi Matloga on Skeem Saam took to her Instagram to share her frustrations after she decided to fire the domestic worker following safety concerns.

“Jiki jiki out of the blue I get a call from CCMA… They told me that I have a case opened against me. That I dismissed somebody without notice and that the person wants compensation,” said Pebetsi Matlaila.
Pebetsi Matlaila said that after hiring the helper on probation agreement for three months she started noticing that the helper was not doing things as expected like changing her bedding once a week and washing her shoes.

She said the helper told her that she owes loan sharks R10 000 and they are threatening her life, including abducting her child from pre-school.
“She said I should give her the money and deduct it from her salary. I told her that I don’t have the money and all of a sudden they abducting her child that I am very fond of. I told her to go to the police and report the matter. Apparently, she did that and came back to tell me that the loan shark wants half of the money. I told her I don’t have the R5000 she wants. I can’t give it to her. What if she runs away because she is still on probation,” said Pebetsi Matlaila.

Pebetsi said that the helper told her that the loan shark was now following her to work.
“I got worried about my daughter’s safety. What if one day I come from work and my child is missing. I decided to dismiss her,” she said.
She said her helper was still on probation when she decided to fire her and told her that they will no longer work together.
She was informed by the CCMA that the helper wants compensation after she worked for a month and three weeks, including having paid her in full for the second month.

Pebetsi Matlaila said that she felt her former helper was taking advantage of the fact that she is on TV.
“Just because we work on TV people assume we got money and we are just like any other regular person and on top of that we don’t have any benefits,” said the irritated actress.
