“The common ground reached by the two parties stems from the fact that the soap has maintained its spot as South Africa’s most loved soap for the past 28-years. The programme boasts a viewership of more than 8.5 million and is currently the second most-watched daily soap in the country,” read a statement issued by the SABC.
They further announced that Generations: The Legacy will continue uninterrupted and audiences will be spoilt with fresh episodes throughout December and the rest of 2020.
SABC spokesperson, Mmoni Seapolelo says that at the core of carrying out its mandate, the SABC is committed to delivering content that is compelling and captivating to its audience.
“The new seasons of Generations: The Legacy promises to deliver just that and more, stay tuned,” concludes Mmoni Seapolelo.
The SABC last week announced that the show will go on a month-long break as negotiations between the public broadcaster and production company, Morula Pitucres over a new season had hit an impasse.
Before an agreement was reached on Monday evening, the SABC had made plans to rerun old episodes of the show for the festive season.
Last week the SABC also announced that Giyani on SABC 2 was coming to an end on Tuesday (November 26, 2019).
“As with any telenovela, it was due to end after some time. SABC2 has lined up another interesting telenovela starting January 2020,” reads the statement.
It is also rumored that after 21 years, one of South Africa’s loved soapie’s Isidingo is apparently set to be canned due to low television ratings.
Generations: The Legacy stars actors such as Vusi Kunene, Manaka Ranaka, Rapulana Seiphemo, Vuyo Dabula, and Abigail Kubeka to name a few.
