South Africa’s number one citizen, President Cyril Ramaphosa is now the proud owner of Skinny Sbu Socks. Sibusiso Ngwenya aka Skinny Sbu is Mzansi’s sock millionaire who came to Joburg at the age of 19 to pursue acting.
On Wednesday he took to social media to share a video of himself giving president Cyril Ramaphosa a pair of Skinny Sbu Socks. Watch the video below to see Skinny Sbu giving the president a pair of his socks.

“I’m proud to announce that President Cyril Ramaphosa is now the owner of Africa’s number 1 sock brand Skinny Sbu Socks,” he tweeted.
Sbu says that it was his third attempt to get to the president.
“This is my 3rd attempt, they tried to stop me 2 times inside the venue… so I decided to go wait for him at the back entrance,” says Sbu.
The President is currently attending the South African Investment Conference (SAIC), themed accelerating growth by building partnerships.
When Skinny Sbu arrived in Joburg in 2009 he went to multiple acting auditions hoping that he will get acting gigs but that didn’t materialise as he had hoped.
Due to financial commitments such as paying rent, he had to start something that will enable him to pay for his rent and that is how Skinny Sbu Socks came into being.

“After being a guy with a couple of socks in my bag in a split of seconds investors flocked in. The interest to my sock business grew bigger and bigger,” says Skinny Sbu.
At just 24-years-old managed to hook up an endorsement deal that worth around R2 million, which like any 24-year-old he blew it up like a birthday candle.

Speaking to MGOSI.co.za he says a large sum of his money was spent on terrible business choices.
“I’ve never for different quotes for one thing and I’ve never negotiated for option B. As a matured businessman now I know that running a business one should always look at different options. One should know what makes more financial sense when it comes to any type of business,” he shares.

He tells MGOSI.co.za in a laughing manner that he’s now a stingy businessman and it’s so scary that he can rock the same pair of jeans for the entire week.
