“I expect @TheSAMAs to withdraw the nominations of all those who have serious allegations of abuse against them. From AKA to Black Coffee and more recently TNS. Our industry has too much influence for this deafening silence. It’s the end of the normalized abuse era in our culture,” says Nota Baloyi.
Nota Baloyi says that Poet Ntsiki Mazwai spoke about how celebrities are poisoning their fans with alcohol brands and it was a big joke.
“Ms. Ntsiki Mazwai spoke about how celebrities are poisoning their fans with alcohol brands it was a big joke. Boity even clapped back because she wanted to promote her own brand. South Africa has a serious substance problem. Our celebrities make it cool to consume alcohol and drugs,” says Nota Baloyi.
Nota Baloyi who is married to Afro-Soul singer Berita says that he spoke about the need for the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA) about the need for an inquiry into Gender-based-violence and rape culture.

“I spoke about the need for a RISA inquiry into Gender-based Violence and Rape Culture and it was said I have a personal vendetta but the various revelations made this year prove me right. We need to urgently address this matter and we need to set an example with our influence.”
“We also need to find organizations to help us deal with substance abuse in our industry. I’m not against the recreational use of marijuana and the decriminalization thereof but lean and recreational use of antidepressants is now a pandemic. MTV, Channel O, and Trace are promoting it,” alleges Nota Baloyi.
Nota Baloyi has emphasized the need to support the ban on alcohol advertising.
“We need to support the ban on alcohol advertising and we need to ensure that those cups are not filled with “liquid heroin” when they appear on our screens in music videos etc. @YouTube needs to censor music videos to ensure they don’t promote drugs and violence… It’s too much!
