The musical icons, both hailing from the Eastern Cape, represent two unique generations of women in music who have been unapologetic about their heritage and the infusion of South African culture into their craft.
At the mural unveiling which took place on South Africa Women’s Day, Madosini shared “It makes me feel immortal more than anything… I’ve always felt like the underdog and this gesture makes my spirit feel elated.”
Msaki commented “It’s an honor to be next to Madosini in this way. It’s also a treat to hear the music she listens to in her own home and to co-curate, a playlist with her is so special. It’s added another dimension to the already rich conversation she has so generously initiated with the youth.”
