In less than two weeks of 16 Days Activism against women and children abuse, South Africa has seen young women dying at the hands of men.
Women who faced the sword while South Africa is in 16 Days of activism are Gomolemo Legae, Kgaugelo Tshawane, and Precious Ramabulana to name a few.
The Economic Freedom Fighters also condemned the brutal murder of 18-year-old Gomolemo Legae, allegedly by a suspect known to her family.
Gomolemo, of Ramosadi Village outside Mahikeng in the North West, was found with multiple stab wounds. It is believed she was raped before the suspect poured petrol over her and set her body alight.
Kgaugelo Tshawane (28) was allegedly burnt to death in her vehicle by her boyfriend and a close friend has described the couple’s relationship as volatile.
According to Sowetan, Tebogo Setlhare, 37, had allegedly broken the mother of two’s arm during an argument in 2015.
According to EWN Aubrey Manaka (28) is accused of raping and killing Precious Ramabulana.
The 21-year-old Precious Ramabulana was found dead in her residence off-campus in Botlhokwa after being stabbed 52 times and it’s also believed she was raped.
EWN reports that Aubrey Manaka was charged with rape, murder, and robbery under aggravating circumstances. The defense had initially tried to oppose the media broadcasting the case but later abandoned their bid.
