Just a week after being appointed as the spokesperson for the Department of Sports, Arts, and Culture, Masechaba Ndlovu has caused panic by saying that the death toll of coronavirus increased from 64 on Tuesday to 116 on Wednesday!

“The message is unambiguous. People must listen to what the president has said. There is no ‘if’ or ‘maybe’, people are dying. The death toll was at 64 yesterday, we now stand at 116,” wrote Masechaba Ndlovu in a very bold manner.
After being lambasted and thrown in a boxing ring by fellow South Africans on social media, she clarified and apologized for her first public blunder in the office of the minister as a spokesperson.

“To clarify, “the number of people infected with Coronavirus now stands at 116”. Thank you Twitter family. Let’s continue to take the necessary measures to curb the spread of this Virus. My apologies for giving you a fright,” said Masechaba Ndlovu.
We are still trying to understand what did she mean when she said “to clarify” because an error was reported and it needed to be corrected. We don’t need clarity in her previous statement because it was clear she reported: “deaths” instead of “infections”.
Masechaba Ndlovu’s appointment by minster Nathi Mthethwa was announced last Thursday on social media and apparently former spokesperson Asanda Magaqa found out the same way that she was booted as the spokesperson for the “honorable” minister Nathi Mthethwa.

Masechaba has made a mistake like we all do. BuT that might be prophetic already, let’s watch these space.

That’s exactly the same rationale Masechaba applied. Labeling things the way that “feels good”. Death toll must have felt good to her the same way it feels to you to label it a mistake.
