DUE to the violence, crime and xenophobic attacks that have been happening in South Africa, Mafikizolo has decided to cancel a show that was going to take place this Friday in Zimbabwe at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC).
“Hi, we are Mafikizolo we would like to say to all our fans in Zimbabwe, the loving people of Zimbabwe that the show that we were going to perform this coming Friday at the HICC has been canceled because of what is currently happening in our country,” says Theo Kgosinkwe of Mafikizolo, in a video shared on Instagram on Wednesday evening.
Theo says that the violence, the crime, the killings that are happening to “our” brothers and sisters across the continent of Africa is the main reason for the cancellation.
“We condemn all kinds of violence, hate speech and anything that is wrong towards our brothers and sisters,” says Theo.
“And we would like to let our brothers and sisters know that as Mafikizolo we condemn the killings that have been taking place. The killings of innocent people. The killings of our innocent brothers and sisters from the African continent” says Nhlanhla Nciza.
Nhlanhla says that they (Mafikizolo) want you to know that they will continue to keep you in their prayers.
“We urge our government to take strong and harsh steps to punish the perpetrators and the individuals that are responsible for these horrific crimes,” she says.
South Africa is in turmoil due to xenophobic attacks, rape cases, and murder cases. The biggest story to shake South Africa is the rape and murder of UCT’s first-year film and media student, 19-year-old Uyinene Mrwetyana.
