Lorraine Moropa, says that she has had a discussion with Quizzical Pictures in which they assured her of their intention to remedy the sexual harassment allegations and she’s happy with the “steps” the production company will be taking against the male actor!ithapo actress and sexual harassment victim to a fellow lead actor
“On 20 July 2020, I experienced an incident of sexual harassment on set during the filming of Lithapo. This was the second reported incident caused by the same man whom I had reported earlier this year.
“I have had discussions with Quizzical Pictures in which they have assured me of their intention to remedy the situation. I have been informed of the steps that they will be taking against the actor in question and I am happy with those steps,” says Lorraine Moropa.
On Thursday Lorraine Moropa expressed that she wishes to stand with all South African women when she says enough is enough, and they will not be silenced.
“We will keep reporting these cases until we are taken seriously and until there are real consequences for perpetrators of sexual harassment and sexual violence in our communities. It is unacceptable that women should feel unsafe in their places of work or in their own homes,” says Lorraine Moropa.
Since she broke her silence South African celebrities have been posting pictures (without caption) of Lithapo lead actor Mangaliso Ngema, leaving assumptions to their fans who assumed that he was the alleged sex predator allegedly referred to – below is the image that has been doing rounds on social media.
Lorraine Moropa says that she hopes to encourage other women in the industry to do the same – report sexual harassment.
“We cannot fix the system until we expose the people who are creating it as well as those who benefit from protecting it. I hope that my example will give other women the courage to come forward with their stories. We need our collective power to bring the perpetrators to justice,” says Lorraine Moropa.
She also thanked all the warriors who are standing with her.
“Thank you to all the warriors standing with me. I am humbled by the response and support from many of you. Thank you to the wonderful women in the industry who are in this fight with me and are encouraging me daily. It is humbling. To all the men standing beside me, thank you too,” expressed Lorraine Moropa.
