Rea Gopane is a Youtuber and he is infamous for making defamatory statements in the media. Also being called out for it by many including celebrities.
This time he might have gone too far with his statements. Rea during in a podcast ‘Everything SA Music’ podcast talks about Samthing Soweto’s new song ‘Amagents’.
He shares his opinion on the track and says “the amagents song is whack.”
The YouTuber talks about Samething Soweto’s behaviour on social media, he mentions that the artist manipulates people about his depression. He calls it a “depression phase”.
He carries on saying that Samething Soweto tweets about being sad and wanting to commit suicide. Just to get people to buy his music.
After making those reckless statements he states that if you fall off and get depressed “you must live with it”. Although his co-host tried to reason with him, the YouTuber stuck to his statement and showed signs of unwillingness to learn.
Some time ago the people commented on the artist’s weight loss, many wondered if the artist was sick or not. Samthing Soweto cleared the rumours and said that he is not sick, and he is fine.
Someone’s mental health issues should not be used against them in anyway. Yet the YouTuber felt comfortable insinuating that the artist is using his alleged mental health issues to manipulate his fans.
Back in 2021, the YouTuber was once fined by DJ Mr Jazziq for unwarranted statements made by Gopane. The DJ also demanded an apology and the YouTuber refused to give the DJ an apology for the statements he made.
Bonang Matheba had also sued the controversial YouTuber for R300k and won the case. After the YouTuber had taken to social media and made defamatory statements about Bonang.
When Matheba sued him, he mentioned how unphased he was by the lawsuit. Early in the year, Bonang won the case against the him and he said he would rather burn all the cents than pay Bonang.
The YouTuber does not seem to care about his image. Trying hard to become somebody in this industry should not be at someone else’s expense.
We hope Samthing Soweto will find healing and knows that he has many supporters who are willing to stand up for him.
