Multi award-winning performing artist and producer, Zakes Bantwini has proven to us time and time again that he is good at what he does. No argument there. While the mega hit Osama featuring Kasango still owns the airwaves and dance floors both locally and internationally.
The music maker has already made it an even hotter summer with the release of his third studio album #GhettoKing.
Set to be a musical offering that builds on the AfroTech House Osama accomplished. The album fuses the singer-songwriter’s influences, including traditional South African sounds and modern House alternatives.
The album solidifies Zakes Bantwini as the ‘King of Dance’ with features from rising talent. Eastern Cape born producer and DJ Karyendasoul, as well as KwaZulu-Natal born singer-songwriter Nana Atta on Abantu. A song which has received nothing but great reception since its release. Multi award-winning recording artist Amanda Black also lends her voice to the rhythmic track Bawo.

This is a re-release of Abantu from Zakes’ hit album, Ghetto King. Bantwini starts speaking to the notion collectively with the opening track, ‘Abantu’. He then explores the nuances of his sentiments through speaking to black women experiences by enlisting black women features.
The prayer to the higher power for the people, Nana speaks on togetherness of the people.
The Osama hit maker gave us #GhettoKing last year to enjoy the summer. An eleven-track project consisting of singles which straddle and fuse house signposts including afro, electro and deep house.
Musician and composer now takes listeners on a journey. Which is half prayer and half aspiration but grounded in speaking to the Black experience.
The album opens with the afro-house inspired single, Abantu with Karyenda Soul, featuring Nana Atta. While from track to track, Bantwini does straddle and blend the sounds of afro, deep and electro house.
Songs that provide a similar listening experience to Abantu ranging from Bawo, featuring Amanda Black, Uzalo, featuring Nomkhosi and Khetha, the Abanturemix by Da Capo titled Amanga, and Kumnyama, featuring Mthunzi.
