Gareth Cliff has been accused of allegedly preying on young girls, as young as 15-year-olds!ore people are coming out to speak against GBV and sexual advances from the likes of DJ Fresh, Euphonik, and now former Idols SA judge
This came after a tweep by the name of @TutuZondo said: “We’ll also have the conversation about Gareth Cliff and his many allegations.”
Tutu Zondo said that powerful men in the South African entertainment industry have gotten away with too much, for too long.
“Powerful men in the South African entertainment industry have gotten away with too much, for too long. And while the wheels of justice might not be turning as fast as we would like, they’re still turning,” said Tutu Zondo.
“He (Gareth Cliff) kissed my friend at a club after buying us lots of drinks (we told him when we first met that we were 15…but he didn’t care,” said Ana. L @FemalePencil.
When Ana. L was questioned about what was she doing at a club at 15, she said: “What makes it ok for a grown, influential man to think it’s ok to (prey) 15-year-olds with alcohol and then kiss them and try to convince them to go to his hotel with him? Why aren’t you asking that question?”
@areyouokayanny also accused Gareth Cliff of outing her live on air saying that she was a sex worker.
“Lol f**k this guy, I went on his show because he wanted to “talk about my tattoos” and then he outed me live on air (while my mom and gran were listening) for being a SW (sex worker). My case isn’t as bad as how I’m sure he’s done to others, but it’s a testament of the type of person he is,” said the tweep.
She continued to say: “Also note this was around 2013 when a) sex work hasn’t been as destigmatized as now. I was so young, and although I regret none of my past work as a stripper, it wasn’t HIS place to tell the world and my family. So ya fuck Gareth Cliff.”
