It’s a sad day in South Africa as celebrities and television fanatics pay tribute to legendary actress Shaleen Surtie Richards. She was 66-years-old at the time of her death!

“Shaleen invested her heart and soul into every character she portrayed. Her warmth and sense of humor were infectious and her talent won her international recognition. We will remember her with great fondness for her iconic roles in hit films such as Fela se Kind, Mama Jack, Treugrond, and Vaselinetjie. Most recently, she starred in the KykNet series, Arendsvlei. She turned every role she touched into an audio-visual masterpiece,” said Minister of Sport, Arts, and Culture, Nathi Mthethwa.

According to SABC News Shaun Mynhardt from the Museum for South African Legends has confirmed that she passed away in a guest house in Cape Town where she was working on a television show.
