This Friday Braamfontein will be at a standstill as family, friends, and fans will gather in remembrance of the late Mpura’s DJ The Voice, real name Khanya Hadebe!
Khanya Hadebe died in a head-on collision on Saturday night near Marikana in the North West Province, in South Africa.
The Mercedes Benz they were traveling in collided with a Corsa.

The Amapiano Kings that died with Khanya Hadebe are Killer Kau, Mpura, Thando TOT, including their road manager Thando TD.
In a statement released by the Soweto Music & Entertainment Academy, it said that on Monday the 9th of August 2021, the families of the deceased received a call from Marikana Police Station about a fatal accident that had taken place on Marikana road (N4).
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of 3 members affiliated with the record lav=bel, SMEA, an inspiring record label from Soweto. The trio was traveling to a gig in Rustenburg with other artists in the car,” said SMEA.
SMEA said that involved in this fatality was hitmaker and Amapiano co-pioneer Killer Kau, Thando TOT who was his DJ, TD who was SMEA’s official road manager, Mpur Mpura (artist), Khanya Hadebe (Mpura’s DJ), and another unnamed female.

“As family and community, we have lost our Voice. It is now time for us to come together and find our light,” reads a poster distributed on behalf of Khanya Hadebe.
Police have confirmed to MGOSI.co.za that they are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
~”On Friday we will be coming together in Braam to bid farewell to our brother, Khanya. We would love for everyone who was illuminated by Khanya’s spirit to join us in paying respect by laying flowers and lighting candles in the area,” reads the poster distributed on behalf of Khanya Hadebe.
The same Friday Junk Park (713 Pretoria Main Road, in Wynberg, Sandton) will be hosting a tribute event for Killer Kau, Mpura, Thando Tot, Khanya Hadebe, and Thando TD this Friday (13 August).

The organizers of Khanya Hadebe’s remembrance said that they would appreciate it if everyone could wear a touch of green, and bring along flowers (purple and yellow if possible), messages, green balloons, candles, or anything else they’d like to lay in his honor.
