August 7 marks a year since Killer Kau, Mpura, Thando Tot, TD and Khanya ‘The Voice’ Hadebe passed away in a fatal car accident in Rustenburg. As a result, a special event will take place in tribute of the five artists.
On August 7, 2021, Amapiano stars Killer Kau and Mpura were involved in a fatal car crash that also took the lives of “The Voice” , DJ Thando Tot and TD.

The now called ‘Big 5’ were on their way to a gig in Rustenburg when their vehicle was involved in a collision on the N4. It was a sad moment for the country, particularly the youth as it was a first for such a loss. Hence people came in numbers to honour the late.
Close friends and family of the late musicians will come together to honour them with a special event. Speaking to TshisaLive, Killer Kau’s manager, Mpho Makau, said the day will celebrate the artists’ lives and their contributions to the music industry.

The event, dubbed “The Big 5 Link-Up”, will be a convoy set to take place on Sunday, August 7. The convoy will make its way to the accident scene in Rustenburg where Killer Kau, Mpura, The Voice, Thando Tot and TD all lost their lives.
The fleet will then head to Westpark Cemetary and Nasrec Memorial Park in Johannesburg where the artists are buried.
“We tried to make this more about celebrating the legacy of the guys and taking into consideration that they really played a huge role in the creative industry as musicians and basically a team of creative artists as young entrepreneurs,” Mpho Makau told TshisaLive.
DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small, better known as the powerful Amapiano duo Scorpion Kings, paid tribute to Mpura and Killer Kau with their new track, Trust Fund. The single forms part of their six-track EP, Scorpion Kings Live Sun Arena, released on June 23.
The Scorpion Kings also had a special tribute for the artists at their one-night-only concert at the Sun Arena in Pretoria.

“It was a dark moment in my life because I lost friends whom I work closely with and genuinely loved.”
“Mpura played an instrumental role in the way that we created music and every time I was working with him, he brought out the best in me,” explained Mr JazziQ.
The producer honoured his late friend Mpura with a tattoo of him on his arm.
