Bonginkosi Dlamini, also known as Zola 7 is one of the successful names in the music and television industry that we know from a few years ago.
Although he experienced a financial crisis and is receiving help. Many of us are expecting him to bounce back to his old fame.
Apart from enjoying a successful career as a musician, Zola 7 has also enjoyed a lot achievements on television where he has hosted several shows such as Zola 7.
Dlamini went on to host other television shows including Utatakho and Hope with Zola. Both of which focused on addressing social issues.
On top of making his name known across the continent. His successful career on television also helped to grow his net worth.
On the same breath, Zola 7 has also proven himself to be a talented actor.
He made his acting debut with his renowned role as a gangster called Papa Action in SABC’s series- Yizo Yizo.
Zola 7 went on to have roles in other films including Drum, Tsotsi and the documentary SHARP! SHARP! – the Kwaito story. He also landed minor roles on television series like Isibaya.
Although he has enjoyed his success in his multiple careers in the media industry. Zola 7 has been struggling financially.
It is unclear when his financial woes began. Though some sources blame his child support battles. Also, his health issues- he suffers from epilepsy.
In the year 2020, Zola 7 also disclosed that he had spent around R 4,5 million. Which was used to shoot season eight of his show Zola 7. He also says the production company had not repaid him since.
After stories about Zola’s 7 financial struggles came to light, his fans started a fundraiser campaign for the musician.
Although at first Dlamini who considers himself a proud Nguni man revealed that he had been reluctant to accept help. But he later on, shared his banking details on social media and passed his gratitude to everyone for their overwhelming help and support.
Other than his fans, other celebrities also came forward to show their support for Zola 7. Amongst them is the likes of Mamkhize and her son Andile Mpisane. Who through their Royal AM club reportedly donated R1 million to Zola 7.
