South African hip hop musician and award winner of the song of the year Yanga chief, real name Mapogo Rio Gcilisha Maphakane took to twitter after his award.
The award winner Yanga Chief, real name Yanga Ntshakaza was one of the outstanding musicians who walked home with an award at the 8th annual South African Hip Hop awards on Wednesday night at the Lyric Theatre in Johannesburg.

The award comes after Yanga Chief was nominated at the South African HipHop Awards for his song UTatakho, it was the only song he had released last year after taking some time without releasing, but the song had made waves in the music industry.

Yanga Chief is well known for his hit single track Mantshingilane which paved ways for him in the music industry in 2016. Before he released his single UTatakho, he had quit music last year to some reason(s) we do not know, but his fans pushed him to release more music.

Yanga Chief experienced his feeling towards his fans for supporting him and his music, after the awards ceremony he tweeted, “last year I quit making music completely. My supporters refused to give up on me and so I decided to make one last smash, uTatakho! You guys took this song to the top and you took me with it. This is for us, this for Xhosa king Dalindyebo. Queenstown we got 1! #SAHHASONGOFTHEYEAR”.

The ‘one last smash’ left many of his fans wondering could this be the last music from Yanga Chief, his award did not come easily as he was nominated with some of the top South African hip hop musician, including the likes of Big Zulu, Kwesta, Beast, Dj Speedsta, Gemini Major, Ricky Rick and KO.
