Vuyani Ncuthe professionally known as Mmthi Junior is a DJ and producer. He has played on the biggest morning shows in the country “The Morning Flava” on Metro FM, Eunite with Euphonik” 94.7 FM. This includes also being featured on the world top ten contender radio station Ukozi FM, as well may other radio stations.
His career has led Vuyani to share stages with the following giants in the industry; Vinny Da Vinci, DJ Ganyani, Dj Maporisa, Kabza De Small, DJ Clock and many more.
Mmthi Junior career is growing solid and reaching new heights since his debut album “Moving Forward”.
One of the hit songs standing out from the album is Bulawu feat. Toshi which has been Toping iTunes chats made it on Top 5 of 200 chart and treading as one of the best Afro house songs this year.
Mmthi Junior’s follow up hit single Selimathunzi feat. Cnethemba Gonelo is most likely to be the fan favourite of Mmthi Junior debut album “Moving Forward”.
#1 When did your music journey start?
This is what Vuyani had to say, “I started in 2013 doing mixing and fell in love with music ever since.I grew up in a musical background so that had a major impact in my career.”
Inspired by international house music, the artist also revealed that he is expressing his life through music.
Which one day he hopes will help grow his music. With the aim to take it to greater heights, that is internationally and represent South Africa.
“And in that process bring others along with me on my way up,” Ncuthe added.
#2 What type of music do you produce and/or play?
Speaking to the publication, we found it rather interesting that there are still DJ’s or artists who stick to one music genre. And that for Ncuthe has to be house music, which he hopes touches the hearts and souls of many. With the sole purpose of healing more than anything.
#3 Who are some of the SA’s artists you have worked with so far?
Artist’s that the producer has worked with thus far are: Toshi Tikolo, Chymamusique, DJ Clock, Mandisa Bardrill (Disa), Ntsakosoul, Ybe, LAHV, Cnethemba Gonelo and El Payo.
#4 Why the name Mmthi Junior?
“It came naturally, people started calling me that and I chose to go with it,” said the producer.
#5 Which is your favourite or most popular song?
“‘Bulawu’ – fun fact this song almost didn’t happen because I felt the lyrics of the song were too negative I didn’t understand the song and what Toshi meant. Until my mom explained it to me and encouraged me to keep working on it so Thank you mom,” said Mmthi.
