Sibusiso Maseko also known as Iicey Exotic Kippiza is an up and blooming young musician from Mofolo South, Soweto.
“Growing up in the hood really motivates me it gives me the chance to challenge myself and prove myself that I can get out the hood and make my dreams come true,” said Sibusiso.
The aspiration of becoming a musician came from his surroundings as a youngin’. Especially because his father’s close friends were public figures.
“My dad was close friends with many artist like Bricks and Bazooka stayed opposite my house so I was inspired by being around them a lot when I was very young.”
Currently, Sibusiso is learning 3 Adobe Softwares that are going to help him with his career. Particularly to take his creativity to the next level.
#1 What type of music do you produce?
Speaking to Mgosi, Iicey Exotic Kippiza told us that he started recording as early as when he was thirteen years old which was thirteen years ago.
The artist taps into a lot of genres such as hip-hop, Afro and Amapiano.
He also added that, it is because he is more of a musician and or artist. He can not really box himself, as he is a true lover of music.
#2 What influence do you wish to have in the community?
“I want to inspire the upcoming generation from my hood and give them hope that you can make it one day if you work hard.”
#3 Who do you look up to locally and globally, and why them?
Who else other than the great Riky Rick! May his soul continue to rest in peace. Internationally, Maseko looks up to American rapper and record producer Tyler, The Creator.
“Their style is amazing and their mindset is just out of this world. They really know how to stand up for what they believe in and push it,” he said.
#4 Who would your dream collaboration be with?
Up and rising star, Iicey, would like to collab with Sjava because he likes and looks up to him. He thinks he is an amazing artist and he has that African taste in his sound.
#5 Which is your favourite and most popular song?
EGoli. A sound that the artist really wanted to try out and it came out as perfect. “As I never thought it would,” Iicey Exotic Kippiza expressed.
