Legendary Kwaito musician and TKZee member Tokollo ‘Magesh’ Tshabalala has died. It is understood that ‘Magesh’ passed away on Monday morning, August 15 due to an epileptic seizure.
His family confirmed the news in a statement released on Monday afternoon.
Magesh was one of Kwaito’s most renowned musicians, famously known for his songwriting and rapping skills.
“No visible injuries can be seen on his body he was just lying in bed,” said the family member.
TKZee, formed in the 1990s, is made up of Kabelo Mabalane, Zwai Bala and MageshTshabalala. The group is best known for their chart-topping hits, Phalafala and Shibobo. The award-winning group blew Mzansi away with a performance in April at Celeb City ahead of Cassper Nyovest and NaakMusiq’s highly-anticipated boxing match.
Magesh Tshabalala, Zwai Bala and Kabelo Mabelane met at St Stithians College in Johannesburg in 1992 and four years later, the group officially formed TKZee. Their legendary single, Shibobo, features soccer star and Manchester United first team coach, Benni McCarthy. TKZee’s last album, Guz Hits, was last released in July 2005. Since then, they have gone their separate ways.
Mzansi last saw the group perform at Cassper Nyovest’s Celeb City event in Sun City earlier this year.
