The long-running music show (Live AMP) that is produced by Urban Brew studios became a household favorite launching in 2007. After 25 years, we still remember “Live” as the program that bred Mzansi’s best television presenters.
When we talk about someone who understood the assignment, it is Bonang Matheba or as she used to say “Your Girl B!”, who was trending as Tweeps reminisced on how far the businesswomen has come from starting her career as a presenter and being a part of a new era for South African television.
Back in 2007, Bonang Matheba was co-hosting with now sports presenter Andile Ncube and as the once-trendsetting show continued, we were introduced to the likes of Minnie Dlamini, Pearl Thusi, Luthando Shosha known as “LootLove” and DJ Warras. Today the show is presented by DJ Speedsta and DJ Lamiez Holworthy.
DJ Speedsta took to Twitter saying “A lot of things have happened but this was originally my dream job!” while local Tweeps have expressed how they gained their passion for wanting to be television presenters because of the show.
As the “electrifying” Live AMP comes to an end, the final season is all about taking people back in time, bringing feelings of nostalgia while having fans participate by sharing all their most memorable moments from watching the show.
Tweeps have suggested bringing all the old presenters back for their final run which will be tricky as Bonang Matheba is currently living her best and softest life in New York! (A jet-setter, dahling!)
The final season of Live AMP titled “The Last Dance” will premiere on Friday the 9th of July 2021 with AKA performing his song ‘Energy’ while Kwish, Njelic, and Malummator will perform their Amapiano hit ‘LiYoshona’.
That’s the end of the road for Live AMP.
