The Living The Dream star returned to Showmax viewers’ screens in May of 2022. Fans could not wait to see what the aftermath of Somizi’s divorce from Mohale Motaung would look like.
Now in its fifth season, viewers of the reality show get to see a deeper, much more personal side of Somizi’s life. The 49-year-old who recently lost his mother takes viewers on a journey of grieving, expanding his empire, as well as exploring his ancestral calling.
In an interview, Somizi told Showmax that this is the season where he would be living his life to the fullest, “and showing the silver lining in every dark cloud”.
It seems one of the star’s silver linings came in the form of a friend and business owner Theo Baloyi. Baloyi who is the founder and CEO of the sneaker brand Bathu gifted Somizi a pair of sneakers to promote on his social media pages, a request that Somgaga quickly declined.
This may have come as a shock to the brand owner and fans who know Somizi to be the biggest ambassador and supporter of all his celeb friends’ products.
Mhlongo’s reason for having turned down the request was revealed on his show when he said: “I said ‘no I’m not going to post them’, I hate when people tell me to post”.
Three months after the Bathu owner gifted Somizi the pair of sneakers. The Idols judge must have had a change of heart as he took to Instagram to show off his fresh kicks resulting in Bathu sales skyrocketing.
In response to this, the Bathu owner called Somizi into his offices to personally thank him for creating hype around his brand and according to Somizi, Baloyi then offered him R1 million in cash as a token of appreciation.
