Metro FM’s and Idols SA judge Somizi Mhlongo has been shown the from the music competition following the serious allegations of abuse leveled against him by his husband, Mohale Motaung!
“M-Net and Mr. Somizi Mhlongo met to discuss his role on Idols in light of allegations made against him. We have reached a mutual agreement that Mr. Mhlongo will take some time off to deal with his personal circumstances until this matter has been resolved,” reads a statement shared by Idols SA on Twitter.

Idols SA and or MultiChoice stated that viewers will see Mr. Mhlongo on their screens until Sunday, 22 August, as the audition shows were pre-recorded.
Idols SA announced in January 2015 that South Africa’s most flamboyant and successful choreographer, Somizi Mhlongo, has joined the Idols SA judging panel.
Somgaga – as he is fondly known amongst his many fans – will be the fourth judge alongside veteran Idols SA judges Randall Abrahams, Unathi Msengana, and Gareth Cliff (former) for the eleventh season of South Africa’s biggest TV talent competition, it was announced at the first day of auditions today at the State Theatre in Pretoria.

This is the first time since founding judge Dave Thompson left the show at the end of Season 5 (2009) that Idols SA has a four-person Idols panel.
According to the Sunday World, Mohale Motaung has now come out saying he was “afraid” of Somgaga when they exchanged vows in the much-publicized wedding.
The allegations were put to Somgaga, who had not responded by the time of going to print.
They further report that Mohale Motaung has also accused the Idols SA judge of breaking his ribs and almost knocking out his two teeth in a jealously fuelled violent domestic dispute in their Joburg home last year.
Apart from the violent episodes that rocked their marriage, Mohale Motaung, who fled their marital pad after the incidents, said though “he loves” Somgaga, “he was no longer in love with him” and that he wanted a divorce.

Mohale Motaung also accuses Somgaga of pulling a kitchen knife on him and threatening to butcher both of them to death just three weeks into their relationship.
