As our A-list celebrities invaded the return of South Africa’s prominent horse-racing event, Durban July. Media personalities came through with their fashion, which is what the star-studded event is memorably about. Rather than the horses.
Sponsored by Hollywoodbets, the event follows a specific theme like any other year. Durban July 2022 was under the theme Show Me The Honey, and we as Mgosi had high expectations for our stars.
This is because the Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse was expecting thousands of spectators from around the country to come through the gates. Considering that it is the country’s most prestige horse-racing event and everyone came out to play.
Notably to bring out the fashion and meet the theme of the day. However, not everyone met the criteria and we can safely say this is what we look forward to seeing at Durban July every year. Our very own “Met Gala”.
Fortunately and unfortunately, most outfits either missed the theme completely. Or left us wondering as to what they were trying to achieve with that specific look.
On the other hand, some celebs looked really good and definitely bringing that honey! As the verdicts are in. Here are the best and worst dressed from the Hollywoodbets Durban July 2022.
Worst Dressed
There are many worst dressed to choose from. But here are our top three of the best and worst dressed from the Hollywoodbets Durban July.
1. Vusi Nova
We do not even know what to say about this look because WOW, what is really going on here?
2. AKA and Nadia Nakai
Some celebrities tried to adhere to the theme but got it wrong somewhere somehow. Like the likes of the Hip-Hop couple, AKA and Nadia Nakai. Who showed up as if they had just come out from the club and remembered they have the Durban July to attend.
3. Carol Tshabalala
The theme, Show Me The Honey might men a lot of different things to many people, but we are not too sure about this one.
Best Dressed
1. Sithelo Shozi
Need we say more? Serving! This was definitely a shock for many, but our girl Sithelo came through with her ‘fit. The bedazzled, jewel encrusted, form-fitting gown dressed by Owethu Sidoyi original gave all it needed to give.
2. Thuli Phongolo
Even when she was a late arrival, she still makes the cut into the top three. Dressed by Orapeleng Modutle with her jewel encrusted bodysuit with a long and voluminous trail which gives off an effect of the gown. Not only matched with the theme, but we love the look
