“I was dragged for filth for saying I’m going to Ghana to get my husband. Told that they’re dark like me so I must fcuk off. I will never forget being in Tanzania & my brothers asking me “why are you killing us in South Africa Dada?” & I couldn’t answer because even me I don’t know,” wrote Masasa Mbangeni.
Masasa Mbangeni was also making a reference to Pearl Thusi’s statement about Africans being killed in South Africa.
Masasa Mbangeni said that she read the “appalling” thread when people dragged Pearl Thusi, including an alleged relationship with a Nigerian.

Pearl Thusi said killing African nationals that reside in South Africa is something she will never defend.
“Defending borders drawn by colonizers will never be something I limit myself with. #IAMANAFRICAN” wrote Pearl Thusi.
Masasa Mbangeni said that Pearl Thusi said absolutely nothing wrong.

According to the streets, Pearl Thusi misunderstood the hashtag #PutSouthAfricansFirst, which was according to many never about killing any foreign nationals in South Africa, but demand for borders to be closed and no South Africans should be unemployed while foreign nationals are.
Economic Freedom Fighters’ leader Julius Malema said that the hashtag #PutSouthAfricansFirst is “narrow nationalism because the problem of black people is not a problem of South Africa only. A black person is hated everywhere.”

#PutSouthAfricansFirst is a backlash by locals after reports that the Minerals Council said that the government was in talks with the mining sector about allowing foreign nationals to return to work at mines across the country.
