WOMEN’S Day marked one year since Sbahle Mpisane was involved in a horrific car crash that nearly claimed her life and left her in a coma. She lost control of her vehicle during the awe hours of August 9, 2018, on Victoria Embankment in Durban. To rescue her, Paramedics had to use jaws of life to remove her from the bloody wreckage.
On Friday Sbahle took time to share how strong she’s on her Instagram.
“My long period of amnesia almost made me forget that I have brains in my head. My traumatic injuries on both my feet made me question if I can steer myself in any direction I choose. None the less, a few understood and pushed me to additionally reclaim myself and relook at my directions. Not all pieces are together yet but at the end, they will be cheek by jowl,” she says.
Sharing a picture of herself in a wheelchair, she said she won’t go into the emotional sentiments, “this day brings me. I shouldn’t be here, but I am here thanks to God almighty,”
The fitness model also took time to honour and celebrate women from all over our beautiful country.
“Women who wake up every day, facing their odds with no complaints; Ogogo (Grannys) raiding their grandkids from their meager pension, single mothers making it happen for their kids daily, the physically disabled women who are not hosting pity parties but going out there making it, young women who go out there facing so many societal ills stacked against them, the LGBTQI,” she posted.
Encouraging others she says, “Promise me you’ll always remember. You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.”
