Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and Nadia Nakai let us into relationship by hosting us in one of their homes. In their first and last interview together in the most recent episode of The Insider SA.
Nadia then went on to share on how their love story began, to what it had become. The couple spoke of many things pertaining their relationship while cooking it up in the kitchen.
However, one of the things that stood out from their interview is their future plans. Which were pretty obvious when they got matching tattoos, because who gets matching tattoos unless they’re sure about each other?

Supa Mega even said he liked the idea “because it’s for life”.

Post the interview, at the memorial service of the rapper, his friend Yanga Chief Ntshakaza expressed how AKA loved Nadia and how she saved his life.
“The first time I asked Kiernan how your relationship was going, he didn’t hesitate to tell me, ‘Bah! This is it for me, Nadia saved my life.’ I thank you for loving my bru and bringing him back when we thought we lost him the first time. He loved you so much,” Yanga said.
Since her boyfriend’s death, Nadia Nakai has been breaking down at almost every broadcast and media report.
This happened during an embrace between the two old friends who were briefly meeting up before AKA’s performance at club YuGo.
STRUGGLING TO COPE
AKA was buried on Saturday, February 18 at a private ceremony with family and close friends at Heroes Acre, West Park cemetery.
Expressing her grief for the first time, Nadia has in a post on social media opened up about struggling to cope with the fact that she will never see AKA again.
“My Heart is shattered,” she says.
“This is not what our future was meant to look like. I can’t believe I said my final goodbye to you yesterday.”
“I’ll never see you again for the rest of my lifetime. You loved me loud and proud. Thank you baby. You protected me; prayed for me, and inspired me. I find it hard to breathe, let alone find the words to explain how much I love you.”
Bragga goes on to say that she will miss AKA dearly. “I’m really going to miss all the special moments we’ve had. This really hurts! I can’t come to terms with the fact that I’ll never hear you say you love me, I’ll never hear your laugh,” she says.
“We had plans. There is no pain bigger than the pain of losing you. I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with you, I realise you’re the one who spent the rest of your life with me.”
She added, “I don’t know why things happen the way they do, but I’m questioning God right now. Why would he bring us together to only take you away? I just don’t understand. I don’t know how I’m going to do this, going on with my life without you, I just can’t.”
In other news, there have been claims that AKA had plans to propose to Nadia but his life was cut short before he could.
