ower FM’s Mpho Letsholonyane has lashed out at Dischem after she walked into one of their stores in Dainfern and allegedly heard a person in their control room telling the security on the floor to keep an eye on the “black woman”!
“When you have 2 women with full trolleys, 1 black, 1 white both walk into a store and you hear a person in the control room tell the security on the floor to keep an eye on the black woman coz clearly she must be there (with) ill-intensions since she walked in with a full trolley,” Mpho Letsholonyane wrote.
She said she was the “black woman” on Wednesday morning at Dischem.
“I’m the black woman this morning at Dischem Dainfern. The fact that there was a whole other human being who walked in with me, who didn’t raise a security flag, perhaps because of the color of her skin, is extremely offensive to me!! What a way to start my day!! Do better guys,” said Mpho Letsholonyane.
The store expressed their disappointment about her experience at their Dainfern store and thanked her for reaching out to them.
“Hi Mpho, we are disappointed to hear about your experience at our Dainfern store and thank you for reaching out to us. Please DM us your contact details so we can escalate this to Senior Management to look into and provide you with feedback,” wrote Dischem.
Mpho said that she was “hurt” although she would not allow the incident to ruin her day.
“I’m hurt. BUT I won’t let this ruin the rest of my day… It’s one small incident in what is otherwise a great day,” wrote Mpho.
After what looks like the store reached out to Mpho she thanked Dischem for keeping her updated regarding the incident that left her hurt.
“Thank you to Dries at @Dischem for getting in touch with me and keeping me updated regarding my matter this morning. All is well that ends well,” she wrote.
The store wrote that they were “glad” to hear Mpho’s feedback regarding the matter.
Mpho has recently joined Power FM 98.7’s Power Lunch from 13:00 – 15:00 (CAT).
